I want to commend you all on the great efforts all schools have gone to this week to engage in online learning.
We all hope that it can be a very short-term arrangement as a substitute for the natural school environment.
I am aware that any teachers are fully embracing aspects of online teaching for the first time and this is a process that is laden with challenges.
In order to support your teachers in meeting these challenges and enhancing their experience with the online space I have arranged a special bespoke support for each teacher beginning next Monday.
John Rust, a former member of the PDST Technology in Education Team and former primary school principal has kindly agreed to host a session every Monday and Wednesday @12pm throughout school closures to answer any questions that you or your teachers may have in relation to online teaching and learning.
John has delivered a number of workshops for us this week and his expertise in this area is a very valuable resource at this time.
This programme of support is titled ‘’Let’s Talk Technology in Remote Teaching’’ with John Rust.
The link to join the session is here: https://zoom.us/j/97472758572?pwd=c203MXdMdmZyYkJHWmN2T1hCcm5yQT09
No prior registration is necessary.
Any teacher can log in between 12pm and 1pm and enter their query in the Q+A section on zoom and John will address their query live in the session and the teacher can then leave again and trial the advice/solution received.
I would be grateful if you could share this information with your teachers and SNAs in order to give them the option to access this support.
This is just one of the many supports we have planned in order to respond to the evolving needs of schools at this time and I encourage you to keep track of our supports on @MonaghanEC on twitter or www.metc.ie
Should you have any other areas where you feel the Education Centre can support teaching and learning at this time please do not hesitate to contact me.
