Parents of Junior Cycle students\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; color: #000000; font-size: 10pt;\">Parents of Junior\u00a0students, particularly First years, have a major responsibility in the\u00a0establishment of\u00a0<b>good study habits at an early stage.<\/b>\u00a0While it is\u00a0important to encourage a developing sense of personal responsibility and\u00a0self-motivation on the one hand, close direction and monitoring is necessary on\u00a0the other. Maturity does not necessarily come with age. If you are unhappy with\u00a0the level of progress, direct intervention is vital. Don\u2019t be slow to act.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; color: #000000; font-size: 10pt;\">(i) Help your son\u00a0or daughter to make out a\u00a0<b>workable home study and leisure\u00a0<\/b><b>timetable.<\/b>\u00a0Insist that it is followed. Some compromise may be\u00a0necessary.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; color: #000000; font-size: 10pt;\">(ii) Ensure that she\/he\u00a0uses the\u00a0<b>homework journal<\/b>\u00a0correctly.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; color: #000000; font-size: 10pt;\">(iii)\u00a0<b>Check\u00a0<\/b>that\u00a0<b>written<\/b>\u00a0work,\u00a0<b>learning<\/b>\u00a0work and regular\u00a0<b>revision<\/b>\u00a0is\u00a0completed to a\u00a0high standard.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; color: #000000; font-size: 10pt;\">(iv) Ensure that\u00a0the\u00a0<b>journal is signed<\/b>\u00a0every weekend.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; color: #000000; font-size: 10pt;\">(v)\u00a0<b>Sign any\u00a0notes<\/b>\u00a0written by the class teacher or subject teachers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; color: #000000; font-size: 10pt;\">(vi) Use the\u00a0<b>journal\u00a0<\/b>to keep in regular\u00a0<b>communication with the school.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; color: #000000; font-size: 10pt;\">(vii) Ensure the\u00a0<b>Code\u00a0of Behaviour<\/b>\u00a0is observed in all respects.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; color: #000000; font-size: 10pt;\">\u00a0In general, maintain a\u00a0<b>watching (if unobtrusive) brief<\/b>\u00a0on your child\u2019s educational\u00a0progress throughout the first three years at second level.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Parents of Junior\u00a0students, particularly First years, have a major responsibility in the\u00a0establishment of\u00a0good study habits at an early stage.\u00a0While it is\u00a0important to encourage a developing sense of personal responsibility and\u00a0self-motivation on the one hand, close direction and monitoring is necessary on\u00a0the other.
