Monaghan Education Centre in partnership with Youth Work Ireland Cavan/Monaghan, The Children and Young People Services Committee and Cavan/Monaghan Education and Training Board are pleased to offer your school an opportunity to attend a Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender and Intersex Capacity Building Training Day in Monaghan Education Centre.

IZAK9 PRESENTATION (PRIMARY)

Izak9consists of 27 brightly coloured cubes, with each face being populated with different combinations of colour, number and shape. These cubes come accompanied with a suite of online tasks. The tasks are aimed specifically at the “Maths skills development” section of the curriculum – problem solving, integration, critical thinking ,collaboration etc.

EXPLORING LEARNING NQT WORKSHOP (POST PRIMARY)

This workshop at its essence will explore what it is to be a learner. It will reconnect with the NQTs understanding of themselves as a learner as developed at ITE and emphasise the impact that the teacher has on students learning. A virtual class will be used by NQTs to help them to investigate the different learning styles students have and adapt their methodologies to meet these needs. Particular emphasis will be placed on the learning profile of students with SEN.

BEHAVIOUR FOR LEARNING NQT WORKSHOP (PRIMARY)

This workshop builds on the Classroom Management workshop by focusing on teaching behaviour(s) essential for learning. The Behavioural, Emotional and Social Difficulties: A Continuum of Support -Guidelines for Teachers (NEPS: 2010) is a key reference for this workshop which aims to give NQTs an understanding of the Classroom Support Process and the development and use of Individual Behaviour Support Plans. Relevant case studies and resources will be examined and participants’ own concerns will also be explored.

PDST: PE WORKSHOP – FOLK DANCE (ST. CLARE’S NS, COCKHILL, AGHNASKERRY, CO. CAVAN)

This 2 hour workshop will explore the Dance strand of the PE Curriculum with a particular focus on Folk Dance. Participants will explore a variety of folk dances suitable for all age groups. Participants will also identify how to embed the development of fundamental movement skills into the Dance strand using the Move Well, Move Often resource. This practical workshop will provide participants with fun, new ideas for their dance lessons. These workshops will take place in the venues listed below, after school. Please come dressed for activity! Refreshments provided on arrival and each participant will receive a Folk Dance teaching resource and a confirmation of attendance.
